When a compliment goes wrong: Understanding the Reddit gender debate

Last week, an anonymous female reddit user posted the shot heard round the internet when she described relationship issues that ensued after she told her boyfriend she saw him as marriage material vs a hookup.

Men were OUTRAGED and claimed this was amongst the worst things a woman could say to her man.

Women felt...differently.

The post sparked a full fledged gender war between men and women, revealing huge differences in communication, values, and preferences worth examining.
