White House Press Secretary caught in HUGE lie about 'Bidenomics'
Today’s a day that ends in y, so White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is defiantly gaslighting the American public. (That’s kind of the job description, to be fair).
Jean-Pierre’s latest lie comes in the context of the Biden administration’s continued efforts to spin “Bidenomics” into something positive. At a press conference this week, she said, “This President has been so zeroed in, so laser-focused, on lowering costs for Americans — and we've done that!"

There’s no way to describe this statement as anything other than a lie. It is flatly untrue that the Biden administration has “lowered costs for Americans.”
As of September 2023, prices were up by the following amounts since Biden took office, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics:
Groceries up 20%
Food away from home up 18.5%
Energy costs up 43%
Gas prices up 62.5%
Electricity prices up 26%
Used cars and trucks up 33%
New cars up 20%
Furniture up 17%
Clothes up 11.4%
This isn’t some conservative spin; it’s a reality even mainstream media is acknowledging.
The Washington Post recently reported that, despite Biden’s touted success at lowering costs, “Many Americans still feel the sting of high costs for the basics. And even as inflation eases, prices are not expected to return to levels before the pandemic.”
USA Today similarly reported in August, “Extreme heat is forcing Americans to choose between food and air conditioning this summer.”
You get the idea. Overall, consumer prices have increased 17.4% under Biden’s watch.
To be clear, not all of this is Biden’s fault or within his control. The economy is complicated and many factors affect prices. But his claim that they have successfully “lowered costs” is blatantly false. The actions they have taken, like passing a wasteful and fraud-rife “stimulus” bill and the so-called “Inflation Reduction Act,” have done essentially nothing to reduce inflation and instead just spent more taxpayer money and worsened it.
The only thing that President Biden can point to as a positive is that the inflation rate has decreased significantly from its peak of 9%. But that doesn’t mean prices are falling. It means prices are still going up every month—just not by as much or as rapidly.
Of course, any presidential administration is going to try to put a positive spin on the state of the economy. But the Biden White House should maybe pick a narrative that isn’t so far detached from reality that it’s insulting to Americans’ intelligence.
