Give Biden Some Credit for 2 Major Decisions Standing Up to the Far Left
Joe Biden has, in many ways, been a disaster as president. We at BASEDPolitics have given him no shortage of criticism for his idiotic approach to inflation, failed big-government spending policies, nanny-state regulations, and too many other things to count.
So, it’s only fair that we give him some credit for two key decisions he made this week standing up to the far-Left.
1. Calling for Only Peaceful Protests After Roe v. Wade Decision
Since the Supreme Court’s massive decision overturning Roe v. Wade and sending abortion policy back to the states, the national temperature has reached a fever pitch. There are serious concerns this may spill over into widespread violence. We’re already seeing vandalism and death threats, with both abortion clinics and pro-life churches alike bracing for potential violence.
Some far-Left Democrats are fanning the flames amid this chaos. Yet, to his credit, President Biden immediately came out and, while criticizng the decision, condemned all violence and called for peaceful protest only.

“I call on everyone, no matter how deeply they care about this decision, to keep all protests peaceful,” Biden said. “Peaceful, peaceful, peaceful. No intimidation. Violence is never acceptable. Threats and intimidation are not speech."
Our elected officials condemning violence and calling for peace should be the bare minimum.
But, unfortunately, in 2022 it isn’t.
Many prominent Democrats failed to forcefully condemn the widespread rioting and looting that broke out amid the George Floyd protests in 2020, despite the dozens of deaths it led to and the record-setting amount of property damage. Similarly, many top Republicans, including former President Trump, failed to adequately condemn the violent post-election riot at the Capitol on January 6.
So, I really do appreciate Biden’s commanding call for peace after the Supreme Court’s contentious decision. We’ll never know for sure, but it’s possible that a non-zero number of people on his side of the aisle were swayed by it and that some serious acts of violence won’t occur thanks to the president’s remarks.
2. Rejecting Calls to ‘Pack’ the Supreme Court
I criticized President Biden extensively during his presidential campaign for refusing to take a position on “court-packing,” which is a popular push on the Left to cram the Supreme Court with extra justices to rig it in their party’s favor. Yet now, with these calls re-emerging after the Roe v. Wade decision, Biden has belatedly but importantly taken a stance against this extremist, dangerous proposal.

When asked about it, White House Press Secretary Karine-Jean Pierre said that court-packing is “something that the president does not agree with” and “not something he wants to do."
As I’ve previously explained, court-packing is the stuff of dictators. It would kick off a dangerous cycle and ultimately destroy the Supreme Court as we know it.
So, while again condemning this really should be the bare minimum, it isn’t. It’s a big deal and reassuring for the future of our country that President Biden is standing against this dangerous far-left proposal.
The Takeaway
The real world is a complicated place. Neither party is right all the time, so it stands to reason that no party is wrong all the time, either. Tribalism and partisanship cloud our brains and often obscure the truth.
What’s more, our criticisms of our political opponents only have credibility so long as we’re both willing and happy to laud them when they’re occasionally correct. So, kudos to President Biden for standing up to the far Left on these two important issues.
