Actress Jennifer Lawrence gives one of the cringiest celebrity political interviews of all time

There’s a fine line between a celebrity making a brave political statement on the Left these days, and rants that should really be saved for the privacy of their therapist’s office. Jennifer Lawrence is the latest notable leftie actress to dash all the way across that line. In a recent, absolutely bonkers, interview with Vogue the actress decided to air her neurosis, her family’s dirty laundry, and a flare for the dramatic. Here’s an excerpt from the interview:

This actually should go without saying, but you shouldn’t be cutting off family members over political disagreements. It’s frankly unhinged and shows an emotional immaturity unsuited for serious discourse. Oh no, not by a long shot. Lawrence went on to say, “It breaks my heart because America had the choice between a woman (Hillary Clinton) and a dangerous, dangerous jar of mayonnaise. And they were like, well, we can’t have a woman. Let’s go with the jar of mayonnaise.” I’m pretty sure literally no one had this debate with themselves in the voting booth in 2016. And this kind of reductive reasoning does nothing to actually understand the other side’s position. It’s intellectually lazy and leads to dangerous tribalism and more divisiveness.  I’m sure it feels good—to simply write off everyone who disagrees with you or sees things differently as sexist or racist monsters. You would get a sense of self-righteousness while also getting to immediately discount any arguments or data that might make you stretch your brain and examine other positions that could challenge your preconceived notions.  But let’s be very clear: this kind of mindless drivel is not activism, it’s not even “being political,” as Lawrence seems to feel so strongly about. It’s just a childish, emotional outburst. https://twitter.com/brad_polumbo/status/1567491828039012352 Politics is the art of persuasion.  If you want to actually achieve meaningful change and advancements you have to not only be able to understand the stances of people who differ from you, but you also have to convert them to your way of thinking. She’s pretty good at standing up to the state in the movies, but it looks like in the real world, she needs to stick to a script.
