Nonprofit at the center of potential COVID lab leak controversy gets new multimillion dollar grant from Defense Department
If the federal government were to write honest job descriptions they’d go something like this: ‘Wanted: individual(s) with the ability to consistently fail at their jobs, make everything less effective, and wreak all manner of secondary problems through their incompetence while maintaining an air of superiority, indifference, and entitlement.’
While the government may not come out and say that such descriptors make up their perfect partners, their actions prove it time and again.
Recently, the Department of Defense (DOD) awarded yet another multi-million dollar grant to the ‘nonprofit’ EchoHealth Alliance. The organization, which maintains extremely close ties to various government entities, is the same that the NIH used as a pass-through organization to carry out dangerous and illegal gain-of-function research in the Wuhan lab.
It is unthinkable, as questions continue to swirl about the role those dollars might have paid in the creation and subsequent leak of the coronavirus, that this organization would be given even more taxpayer dollars—no less by the DOD, which allegedly exists to protect citizens from domestic and foreign threats.
Yet USASpending.gov shows they are using our resources, to the tune of another $3.0 million, to fund this organization that has already proven to be involved in shoddy and shifty practices at the very least. Moreover, the funding is so the group can work on “reducing the threat of viral spillover from wildlife in the Philippines.”
Personally, I’d rather not have EcoHealth Alliance involved in any more research period, but especially research so close to that that could have gotten us in this mess in the first place.
This is why there must be congressional investigations into this matter. Until we can say once and for all what actually went down in Wuhan, groups like EcoHealth will continue to get our hard-earned tax dollars in the name of ‘keeping us safe.’
