Lindsey Graham is using Osama Bin Laden’s logic
Lindsey Graham says the conflict between Israel and Palestine is a “religious war” and that he stands with the Israelis.
Osama Bin Laden and his terrorist group al-Qaeda believed they were in a religious war with the United States. The Palestinian terrorist group Hamas currently believes they are waging a religious war against Israel which is what motivated their recent terrorist attack that left 1,300 Israelis and other innocent people dead.
Of course Israel has the right to retaliate against Hamas members, ideally in some targeted way. But that’s not what Graham wants at all. The senator says of Hamas-controlled Gaza, that we should “level the place,” indicating that he wants to decimate the entire area. This means knowingly killing countless innocent civilians in order to accomplish Graham’s political goals. He seemingly thinks those civilians are as culpable for the attacks as Hamas and that killing them is justified.
This was Bin Laden and al-Qaeda’s view on carrying out 9/11, that Americans are responsible for what their government had done in the Middle East and therefore as many of them deserved to die as possible. Besides being an American center of power and the Pentagon being the US government’s war department, the World Trade Center was in one of the most densely populated areas in the US, New York City.
Bin Laden and al-Qaeda planned to take as many lives as they could on September 11, and they did. No doubt, this was Hamas' goal last week when they carried out their brutal attack on Israeli citizens.
Two million people live in Gaza, one of the most densely populated parts of the world. You will find popular support for Hamas in Gaza, Hamas was elected in 2006, but you will also find many Palestinians who don’t like Hamas, a contrast similar to how split many Americans were on President George W. Bush in 2001 or the presidents and governments that preceded him.
The overwhelming majority in Palestine and Gaza are innocent civilians and nearly half of Gaza’s population are children.
Graham, by his own words, has no problem leveling Gaza, even if that would mean indiscriminately killing almost every human being on that land.
Some might accuse me of saying that Lindsey Graham is thinking like a terrorist.
That’s exactly what I’m saying.
