Lawmakers in Georgia introduce nation's third bill demanding congressional investigation into COVID's origins
At BASEDPolitics, we’ve been reporting on the likely origins of COVID-19 stemming from a lab leak since last year when we first launched. That’s back when saying such things could get your accounts deleted or demonetized—which for a little upstart nonprofit would have been the end of the road. But we were, and are, committed to presenting the truth in our content and getting to the “base” cause of issues. So we stuck our necks out.
The water has gotten much warmer in recent months though as the FBI and now the Department of Energy have both released reports stating they too believe the coronavirus came from a lab leak. They can’t say for sure of course because Congress refused to even remotely look into the matter while under Democratic control for the past two years.
But it seems that may soon be changing. A growing number of state Republican lawmakers are introducing resolutions demanding that Congress do its job and figure out once and for all if the virus did come from a lab, and almost more importantly, if the research that led to such a leak was paid for by our tax dollars.
In Georgia this week, we saw the third such resolution land championed by a rising star in the liberty movement, state Senator Colton Moore. He’s joined on the resolution by some other heavyweights in the state, Senators Greg Dolezal, Ed Setzler, Mike Dugan, and Senate Majority Leader, Steve Gooch. So it looks like the gang didn’t come to play.
The resolution has similar language to those introduced in Texas by State Representative Briscoe Cain and in Maine, where state Senator Eric Brakey’s bill was blocked by the chambers’ Democratic leadership.
It’s somewhat unbelievable that Democrats and even many Republicans have refused to take such a stand given what we now know. Thanks to the work of the White Coat Waste Project (where I am a Fellow), we’ve known since the spring of 2020 that the NIH was funding dangerous research on animals in the Wuhan Lab known as gain-of-function research. We’ve also known they were doing that illegally as President Obama banned this type of research from 2014-2017, and that Facui and his organization used a passthrough nonprofit, EcoHealth Alliance, to get around this ban.
Yet the government, Fauci, and the mainstream media spent almost three years working overtime to censor anyone who attempted to shine a light on these factors and labeled those who mentioned them racists, conspiracy theorists, or whack jobs.

Senator Rand Paul received death threats for daring to question Fauci on these matters. Fact checkers went hard against politicians like Ted Cruz and Tom Cotton who mentioned a lab leak. Many agencies throughout the Biden Administration worked to censor Americans online who questioned the official COVID narrative.

It’s so encouraging to see state lawmakers like these rising up and demanding our DC overlords do their jobs. For years, federal politicians like Paul and members of the independent media like BASEDPolitics have been out there on a limb on this issue all alone. And it’s hard to think of one of more paramount importance.
If we funded a global pandemic that killed millions, ruined the economy, and shut down schools and people’s livelihoods due to the funding of illegal and torturous research on animals—research we’re still funding by the way—then the American people damn well need to know about it.
The pressure from the states is absolutely necessary because despite the overwhelming and increasing evidence that this theory is correct, Democratic lawmakers and the media are still working hard to cover their tracks and protect their failed “experts.” Just look at this headline from Vox.
Or watch Stephen Colbert and other comedians do their best to undermine the new governmental reports.

Without pressure, there will be no answers, no accountability, and no assurance that the same thing will not happen all over again in the very near future. Thankfully, we still have some actual leaders in this country.
And our ranks are growing.
