Happy Tax Day! Here's how your taxes might get you killed in 2023
Happy Tax Day to all who celebrate—and given the proliferation of taxes on everything from income, to property, to any single item or service you purchase—that would be all of you.
Today is a day we come together to commemorate our annual mugging by the US government. A day where we’re reminded, if only momentarily (thanks to a crafty tax collection method that leaves most of us blissfully numbed to our status throughout the rest of the year), that we are all no more than wage slaves to our overlords in DC.
Each year, we reflect on all the good our money has at least done in the world. Though the average American is forced to hand over at least 30% of their income or more (and that’s a generous estimate), we can at least take solace in the fact that our hard work has contributed to the betterment of mankind, right?
Oh wait. No. I think I got that backwards.
On quick recall, and without even trying to do too much unearthing here, let’s roundup some of the worst ways the government used your money this year—in ways that might actually get you killed.
Proxy Wars with Nuclear Powers that Might Get Us All Killed
Since February 24, 2022, the US has sent at least $115 billion in funding to Ukraine in a proxy war that it has become more and more apparent we are waging against Russia—a nuclear power.
(For comparison sake, SNAP, the USA’s main food stamp program, cost $113.74 billion in 2021).
Leaked documents have revealed the US does have boots on the ground in the conflict, contrary to the typical lies out of the military-industrial-complex. And moreover, we have been spying on just about everyone involved (including the UN Secretary General), pressuring our allies to join in the conflict, and as a whole, tempting a fate that could wipe out the whole country.
Our actions have pushed Russia into a growing alliance with another nuclear threat, China, in a menacing chess game that could quickly turn into World War III, sonething all sane people have been trying to avoid since the last global conflict. But don’t get it twisted. The US government is not made up of sane people, and they have interests that supersede those the average American prioritizes (not being murdered in war).
There was never any reason whatsoever for the US to get involved in what amounted to a territorial dispute between Russia and Ukraine—a country across the globe that is not even our ally and that we bear no responsibility towards. Ukraine is rather yet another territory where the US has sunk costs attempting to nation-build in a naive plot that really just funds questionable puppets we put in leadership, destabilizing regions and making our own country far less safe—while simultaneously leaving fewer funds for needs at home.
Animal Torture in Foreign Labs That Might Get Us All Killed
The bombshell of 2022 was that practically everything people were censored for saying in 2020 turned out to be true.
At the top of a long list of such items was the assertion that COVID-19 likely originated in the Wuhan lab as a result of dangerous testing practices and risky safety protocols. Fauci and company tried like hell to prevent the truth from coming out, but ultimately they were no match for Sen. Rand Paul and a plucky little animal welfare non-profit, White Coat Waste Project (where I am a Fellow).
White Coat Waste Project (WCW) produced documents in 2020 proving the NIH had been illegally funding dangerous animal torture known as gain-of-function research in foreign labs, including in Wuhan. Senator Paul continued to hammer Fauci on the truth, and ultimately the cat (or bat, as it were) came out of the bag.
A 302-page Senate report, numerous government agencies, investigators, and the majority of the American people now believe that COVID-19 likely came from a lab leak in Wuhan.
If that’s true, the obvious question is what occurred within that lab to create such a virus? What we do know for certain is that the US government was funding illegal gain-of-function research in the lab of a murderous, communist, country (our biggest foreign enemy, no less). According to reporting by Vox, “Republicans on the Senate health committee issued an interim report in October 2022 that concluded ‘the COVID-19 pandemic was, more likely than not, the result of a research-related incident.’” And in congressional hearings, numerous experts have provided testimony that indicates research went wrong in the Wuhan lab shortly before the virus seeped into society.
Dr. Robert Redfield, former director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stated, “It’s now declassified now, but in September 2019, three things happened in that lab. One, they deleted the sequences. That is highly irregular—researchers don’t usually like to do that. Second, they commanded the command and control of the lab from civilian control to military control. Highly unusual. And the third thing they did, which I think is really telling, is they let a contractor re-do the ventilation system in that laboratory. There is strong evidence there was a significant event in that laboratory in September 2019.”
So something was going down in that lab.
My personal opinion, and that of many others, is that the illegal gain of function research the US government was funding in that lab led to the creation and subsequent leak of COVID19, which killed seven million people, upended the global economy, and eroded civil liberties as quickly as it did human lives.

The kicker to all of this? Your taxes are still being used in this exact same manner. Last year, the NIH continued to ship hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to foreign labs. In fact, the NIH currently authorizes over 346 animal labs in 53 foreign countries to receive taxpayer dollars specifically for animal experiments. So we are still using your dollars to torture animals in these labs, and these experiments continue to pose significant risks to the entire world.
We’re fortunate COVID-19 ended up being easier to mitigate than many imagined initially. We very well may not get so lucky with the next pandemic.
A Robust Police State That Solves Less Than 60% of Homicides But Might Kill You
American police are really bad at solving violent crimes. At the federal level, less than 60% of all homicides are even cleared (clearance means they think they know who did it, not that they arrested, convicted, or imprisoned them). At the state and country level, it’s even worse.
And if you’re think those solvency rates get better when it comes to things like rape or aggravated assault, don’t be silly. Are you new here?
In 2021, we spent $71,931,937,501 on the police state. But each year, cops solve just 2% of all major crimes.
So what are they doing with all that money? Mostly harassing and harming Americans (and incarcerating more people than any other country in the world).
Through civil asset forfeiture, cops steal more from Americans than burglars do every year. They also carry out tens of thousands of no-knock raids every year, fun little exercises where they break down your door in the middle of the night, put a gun in your face, and frequently kill innocent people.
They also spend a lot of time road pirating—pulling people over for dangerous traffic stops so they can shake them down for even more money. During those legal interventions with police, 15% of Americans experience police threats or use of force, an estimated 250,000 civilian injuries are caused by law enforcement officers annually, and more than 600 people are killed by law enforcement in the US each year.
So you basically fund your own bullies. Isn’t America great?
Continuing to Fund the Military Industrial Complex So We Can Bomb People Overseas, Instigate Blowback, and Maybe Get Us All Killed
No entity gets more of your tax dollars than the military industrial complex. It dwarfs every other program you can think of—food stamps, disability, Medicare and Medicaid, Social Security, none of these come anywhere close to the $800 billion(+) budget line item that is defense spending year-in and year-out.
We spend so much on our war machine that we make up 39% of the world's military spending, more than the next NINE countries combined.
And what do we use this money for? We can’t even really say! Though the Constitution says Congress is supposed to authorize military conflicts, that hasn’t happened since World War II. And as discussed in our first bullet point here, the government is less than truthful about its involvement in many ongoing wars. We know we’re funding what amounts to genocide in Yemen right now, we’re obviously involved in Ukraine, we have troops in Somalia’s civil war, we’re still at a war we lost ages ago in Iraq.
And what do we get for these expenditures? In Afghanistan we spent 2.13 trillion and got over 240,000 people over twenty years to replace the Taliban with the Taliban—as just one example.
But not only do these wars cost us countless resources and lives overseas, they put all of us in danger back home as well.
Former Congressman Ron Paul grew to fame for correctly pointing out the obvious: 9/11 was a direct result of blowback our reckless and disgusting foreign policy had generated over decades. “We're supposed to believe that the perpetrators of 9/11 hated us for our freedom and goodness. In fact, that crime was blowback for decades of US intervention in the Middle East,” he wrote. “And the last thing we needed was the government's response: more wars, a stepped-up police and surveillance state, and drones.”
As long as America continues to meddle in other countries, as long as we take innocent civilians from their loved ones, and attempt to dictate the way of life for people across the globe, we will live under threat of attacks from those same people who will eventually punch back.
Funding the FBI to Go After Its Own Citizens In Ways That Might Get You Killed
In 2022 the FBI requested $10.28 billion. As already pointed out here, that’s certainly not for solving violent crimes. So what are they spending all those funds on?
Again, to go after you.
In 2022, we discovered the FBI’s real activities which included things like combing through your tweets, trying to get Americans kicked offline, and investigating parents who participated in their school board meetings as potential “domestic terrorists.”
As infuriating as it is that we’re paying these leeches to harass us for every day activities, and in ways that violate the First Amendment rights of everyday Americans, there’s something even more sinister beneath the surface here.
It’s important to remember that the FBI has a history of actually killing Americans it deems a threat. In the 1990s, the FBI executed the majority of an innocent family at Ruby Ridge once they had determined they were a threat—a determination that held no viability whatsoever at the end of the day.
One year later, the agency helped kill 82 Americans (including 28 children) in Waco Texas for similar reasons. So the agency labeling Americans as “domestic terrorists” or potential threats isn’t an innocuous occurrence. It ultimately means they can use that as an excuse to murder you and get away with it.
Taxes are unethical and immoral, no matter how you spin it. It is unjust that any system can force you to hand over the proceeds of your labor for services and goods you did not agree to, whether that be a street burglar, a mafia, or a government. But taxes are especially wicked when they’re not only forcefully obtained but then used to fund evil and inhumane programs that ultimately cost us our safety, our civil liberties, a stable economy, and peace.
Too many people in this country are mad at the wrong people. Your boss, who negotiates a salary with you, or your landlord who offers you a service for a set fee, is not your enemy. They’re doing nothing wrong in those scenarios, nor are they the reasons your life is becoming harder. The politicians and government bureaucrats that seize 30% upwards of your income, while simultaneously using those taxes to make things more expensive, are the real problem.
Learn who you’re really at war with, or you’ll continue to miss every shot you take to improve your living conditions.
