CNN Poll: Majority of Voters Say Biden State of the Union Failed to Adequately Address Inflation

The runaway inflation ravaging Americans’ wallets is going to be a top issue in the 2022 election, and everybody knows it. So, President Biden was surely hoping that his remarks on the subject during last night’s State of the Union address could help assuage voters’ fears. It didn’t work. At least, that's what CNN is saying.  A CNN poll of voters who watched the speech found that a majority did not believe Biden did enough to address inflation in his speech. What makes this finding even more stunning is that the sample for the poll skewed heavily Democratic compared to the general public, as CNN openly admitted, because people are more likely to tune in to hear the speech of a president from their party than the opposing party. https://twitter.com/RNCResearch/status/1498888878085881857 “41% of voters had a ‘very positive’ reaction to the president’s speech, 29% somewhat positive, 29% ‘negative’,” CNN Political Director David Chalian explained. "That 41%, when you compare it to last year’s speech that Biden gave, that’s about 10% lower. In fact, that 41% is the lowest ‘very positive’ we’ve seen in about 15 years of instant polling after the State of the Union address.” “For the domestic issues that the White House is so keenly aware of that are potential problems for Biden, they still seem to be problems,” he continued. “Majorities for both inflation and violent crime said he didn’t do enough.”
