Adam Schiff, who hates ‘misinformation,’ still believes ‘Russian Collusion’ happened
Rep. Adam Schiff hates when people spread misinformation. Except when it’s him, of course. On CNN Sunday, Schiff was challenged on his belief that the 2016 Donald Trump campaign colluded with Russia’s government. “State of the Union” host Dana Bash said to the outspoken Democrat (emphasis added), “You said that there was direct evidence of the fact that Donald Trump colluded with Russia back in 2016. Special Counsel Robert Mueller said in his report, quote, ‘The investigation did not establish that members of the Trump campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government.’" Schiff threw a tantrum last week when the new Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy kicked him off the intelligence committee. Some Republicans noted that a member of Congress spreading conspiracy theories probably shouldn’t be on that committee, which receives highly sensitive information. https://twitter.com/GOPChairwoman/status/1619768302724595713 Bash pushed that point, “Republicans argue that is proof that you used your position on the intelligence community to potentially mislead Americans, which is why you should not be on the intelligence community.” Schiff replied, “If you read the Mueller report, he makes clear in the first few pages of the report that he states no conclusion on whether Donald Trump or his campaign colluded with the Russians.” Really? Didn’t Bash just read the Mueller quote: “The investigation did not establish that members of the Trump campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government.” Pretty clear. But if we’re just making up our own facts at this point… Have at it, Schiff! “But what he does find, and it is what we found in our investigation,” super sleuth Schiff continued, “that Donald Trump’s campaign manager was sharing internal campaign polling data and their strategy for key battleground states with an agent of Russian intelligence while that same unit of Russian intelligence was helping the Trump campaign, both with a hacking and a dumping operation, as well as a social media operation to elect Donald Trump.” “To most Americans, that is collusion,” he declared. Yeah, that sounds pretty dicey to me too, Adam. If true, it would also make the following quote a lie. Again, from Mueller, “The investigation did not establish that members of the Trump campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government.” So are we to believe a man, Robert Mueller, who was respected and trusted, who conducted an exhaustive two-year investigation and found no conspiracy? Or Adam Schiff? He is, after all, Adam Schiff. https://twitter.com/SteveKrak/status/1619766553339400192 Speaking of which, as the Washington Examiner’s Christopher Tremoglie observed on Friday of Schiff, “He's routinely commented on how anyone who spreads misinformation threatens our democracy. He has spoken about it and repeatedly tweeted that ‘misinformation is dangerous.'" “Schiff is the exact danger he repeatedly warned the country about,” Tremoglie wrote. “Consider Schiff's long history of battles with the truth,” Tremoglie continued. “He made false claims of Russian collusion by former President Donald Trump. He stated that he had ‘more than circumstantial evidence’ of such wrongdoing between Russia and Trump, but it turned out he had no such evidence.” https://twitter.com/ITGuy1959/status/1619782341987295232 Tremoglie detailed some of Schiff’s other unethical behavior and noted one of the more recent revelations about the Democrat’s dismissive attitude toward the First Amendment. “(T)hen there were the revelations from the ‘Twitter Files’ about Schiff's attempted censorship of dissenting viewpoints and his desire to limit the flow of information to the public, and consistent calls to have specific tweets removed because they did not align with Schiff's political viewpoints,” Tremoglie said He added, “Adam Schiff is everything Adam Schiff claims to hate about American politics.” Indeed. Schiff doesn’t hate misinformation. He’s the king of it. As late as 2019, Reuters reported, “Nearly half of all Americans still believe President Donald Trump worked with Russia to interfere in the 2016 presidential election, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted after Special Counsel Robert Mueller cleared Trump of that allegation.” When leaders spread misinformation, people tend to believe it. Today you will find that many Democratic voters still believe some part or version of the Russian collusion narrative that people like Schiff concocted and promoted for so many years. And they still do. https://twitter.com/RNCResearch/status/1619710699894095873
